The company has been on the civic scene since 2011 and has been like a tech watchdog especially through its Tracka tool- for monitoring public works and spending- and with respect to the auxiliary matter of the lootings of discovered COVID-19 palliatives meant for citizens since the lockdown in April/May. In a tweet dated Monday 10th of November 2020, BudgIT announced a partnership with Connected Development and this partnership has seen them roll out a tracking system called the COVID-19 Transparency and Accountability Project (CTAP). The partnership will see BudgIT and CODE leverage their respective tracking systems “Tracka” and “Follow the Money” to build a system that would allow the tracking of COVID related funds across seven African countries including Nigeria, Kenya, Cameroon and Zimbabwe.

According to founders of both platforms, Seun Onigbinde and Hamzat Lawal, it has become increasingly expedient to monitor the flow and use of funds and donations. The program will leverage the existing vast networks that already exist to track the funds. The output of CTAP will also be made available to the public in the bid to enhance the culture of accountability in different polities. According to the official communique, the project will receive support from the Global Integrity “who will help build the learning platform and aid its scaling” and initial funding will be provided by the Conrad N.
