You’re braver and stronger than you think. Don’t believe it? Depending on the situation you’ve found yourself in, this may seem very unlikely. But time and again, various experiences have proved to us that life rewards those who don’t give up in the face of defeat.

You too can be a success story, but you first have to decide to push through the difficult times without giving up. This is the first step to bravery. And soon, you’ll find that you’re strong enough to handle the pressure. Here is how to go about it.

Adopt A Problem-Solving Approach

No matter how bad a situation is, it never helps to dwell on the negative. Doing the little you can, helps to minimise feelings of hopelessness during a turbulent time. What can you do to stay positive? Think of ways you can solve the problem. Seek advice from others. While this is easier said than done, focusing on solving the problem will help conserve your emotional energy and stay positive.

Take Breaks From The News

While the news is good for information, it can become upsetting after a certain point. Guard your sanity by limiting the time you spend reading or watching the news. It is also important to get your news from trusted and non-sensational news sources. Try to fill your time with activities you enjoy to boost your mood and make you see the bright side of life.

Journal

Journaling is a powerful way to process your feelings. When you find yourself in a crisis, you may be tempted to ignore your thoughts for fear that you will start worrying or fall into depression. However, writing about your feelings allows you to think critically about them and see the flaws in them. This allows you to let go of them and start thinking positively.

Practice Selfcare

Taking care of your mental and physical health goes a long way in keeping you stable during a crisis. Take deep breaths. Meditate. Get outdoors if you can. Try to eat a balanced diet, meditate, and get plenty of sleep. This will help stabilise your mental health and increase your resilience.

Focus On What You Can Control

“If you try to control everything, and then worry about the things you can’t control, you are setting yourself up for a lifetime of frustration and misery.” Suman Rai
Sometimes life throws things at you that are beyond your control and the best you can do is adapt. You adapt by focusing your time and energy on the things you can control. Doing it the other way round will only lead to frustration and prevent you from seeing real change in your life. Write down everything you can control about that situation and channel all your energy into solving them. Ignore anything that is not on that list. Featured Image Source: Care For The Family
