You might be wondering why songs like Beginning by Joeboy or Try Me by Tems aren’t here; those songs practically defined Nigerian music in 2019. But never fear, we have a complimentary list with more of the biggest songs in 2019. See our list of the Top 10 Music Videos of 2019.

This is a compilation with some of the hits that didn’t make that list. These songs were just as big this year, and you must have heard all of them at least once. We could only list 10, but if you think of one that isn’t on the list, tell us in the comments below! Enjoy.

Anybody – Burna Boy

It’s impossible to leave this out. Anybody took the world by storm this year and nothing has been the same for Burna Boy since then. Burna released the song in June, ahead of the African Giant album he released in July.

Power Rangers – Teni

At this point, Teni is known for smooth love songs that profess reckless love. In Case, she will give her man anything he wants. In Power Rangers, she will meet him wherever he is.

Audio Money – Rudeboy

After the release of this song, ‘Audio Money’ quickly caught on. It’s not odd at all now to hear someone use either the phrase or the word ‘audio’ to describe something or someone as fake. Rudeboy released the hit in September. It’s two months old, but the song still enjoys heavy airplay.

Flashy – Maleek Berry

Maleek Berry had been outside of the spotlight for some time when he released this lush tune in June. Flashy was definitely a reminder, in case anyone forgot, that Maleek is still a hitmaker.

Blow My Mind – Davido

When Davido featured Chris Brown on a track, he made a brilliant business move. The song broke two Youtube records when it hit 2 million views in 24 hours, and it earned Davido several award nominations. This terrific collaboration between Davido and Chris Brown set the stage for Davido’s album – A Good Time. The track was released in July, and the album followed in November. And yes, we know, Risky is a jam too.

I Can’t Kill Myself – Timaya

Timaya released I Can’t Kill Myself in February on an E.P called Chulo Vibes, his first body of work in a very long time. The song is typical of Timaya’s sound: loud, happy and carefree.

Bad Commando – Rema

Rema turned heads when he released his self-titled E.P in March. We featured Dumebi, a track off the Rema E.P, and its visuals on our Top 10 Music Videos of 2019. The reign of the Rema E.P could have easily carried him through the year, but the young star has too much talent to keep still. He released the Bad Commando E.P in October and sent everyone into a frenzy all over again with Lady and Bad Commando. If Rema keeps going at this pace, 2020 is going to be an incredible year for him.

49-99 – Tiwa Savage

Tiwa Savage sparked conversations with the first line of the lyrics of this song. In an interview with HipTV, Tiwa explained that the title, 49-99, is a phrase she ‘borrowed’ from Shuffering and Shmiling, one of Fela’s most popular songs. 49-99 was one of our Songs of the Week this year.

Jealous – Fireboy DML

Even though it was initially released on the YBNL Mafia Family album last year, Jealous dominated the Nigerian music scene throughout 2019. The song began its long rule when YBNL released a video for Jealous in March.

Joeboy – Baby

Baby was Joeboy’s breakout hit after he was selected for Mr. Eazi’s incubator program, emPawa Africa. The song was released in March and has endured on music charts and radio playlists until now, even though Joeboy has released three other smash hits: Beginning, All for You and Don’t Call Me Back. Baby is undeniably one of the biggest hits of 2019.
