Do You Know? Ahmed Musa Is Nigeria’s Highest FIFA World Cup Goal Scorer

Many Nigerian soccer fans will find it difficult to forget Ahmed Musa’s brace against World Cup debutants Iceland at the 2018 FIFA World Cup held in Russia.

Musa’s first goal came in the 49^th minute of the game after receiving a cross from Victor Moses and blasting in a shot, his second was a stunner in the 75^th minute of the encounter after dribbling past defenders of the European nation. However, what most people do not know is that both goals made the Jos-born forward Nigeria’s highest goal scorer in the history of the FIFA World Cup tournament with a total of four goals, surpassing the likes of Daniel Amokachi, Emmanuel Amunike, and Kalu Uche, who all have two goals each.

The Nigerian forward, who currently plies his trade with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, is also the first Nigerian player to score at two different world cups. His first World Cup goal came at the group stage of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil against Argentina, he would go on to score his second in the same game. 26 year-old Musa is currently the captain of the Nigerian national team, following the retirement of fellow compatriot, Mikel Obi, and there are no doubts he has more to offer the most populous black nation on earth.
