FaceApp

Just some months ago, the 10 years challenge was trending and people all over, jumped on the trend by sharing their ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos on the internet. Now, FaceApp, a new app that predicts what you would look like when you are old, is the latest fad on social media. Various celebrities have used the app and posted pictures predicting what they would look like in the future. However, like the 10 years challenge, the FaceApp did not come without its own fair share of controversy. There have been claims by cybersecurity experts that the app’s terms and conditions state that users’ photos could be used in unexpected ways.

Beyonce and Nigerian Artistes

Earlier this week, reports came in that American singer, Beyonce, would be featuring the kings and queens of Afrobeats, from Africa, in her “The Lion King: The Gift” album. These afrobeats megastars include the likes of Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, Mr Eazi, Tekno, Shatta Wale, Shatta Wale (Ghana), Moonchild Sanelly (South  Africa), Salatiel (Cameroon), and Busiswa (South Africa). This news was welcomed with a lot of enthusiasm by Nigerians but also criticised by many others due to the fact that the African musicians featured on the album comprise mostly of Nigerians.
