“God Calling” was one of the movies to make the cut at the end of 2018. The impressive CGI portrayed in its trailer got many talking, and since it landed in cinemas, reviews have been pouring in about various aspects of the movie. It is not hard to see why this movie is doing well despite the fact that it is daringly different from what Nigerians are used to watching on their screens. First, it arguably has one of the best CGIs in the history of Nollywood movies as can be seen in the trailer where a woman jumps off the third mainland bridge. The scene is so believable that one could actually take it as the recording of an actual suicide. Second, faith-based movies have hardly gone mainstream for a long time due to their reputation of being low-budget and having lackluster performances.  God Calling has changed the status quo having opposite qualities to the two points just mentioned. Perhaps these and the fact that the movie features some of Nollywood’s top figures make it stand out in the industry. God Calling was produced and directed by BB Sasore, creator of “Banana Island Ghost” and “Before 30”. It stars some of Nollywood’s best including Richard Mofe Damjo, Onyeka Onwenu, Nkem Owoh, Tina Mbah, Chidinma Okebalama, and others. Watch Adenike Adebayo, share her frank opinion about this movie based on its strong points and also its shortcomings. Adenike is a popular movie critique on Youtube and lifestyle blogger. She has reviewed many Nigerian movies and you can count on her to tell it like it is.   Featured image source: instagram.com
