Just 10 years in the game, Beth Model Management has established itself as one of Africa’s leading modelling agencies, moulding some of the continent’s top models like Mayowa Nicholas, Davidson Obbenebo, Seun Logan, and others, who have walked the runways for many reputable global design labels. The proud C.E.O and former Miss Nigeria UK, Elohor Aisien, has elevated the franchise, which she obtained from Elite Model International, to  world class standard and established it as a catalyst in the Nigerian Modelling industry. From Model To Modelling Agent Elohor’s entrance into the modelling industry was championed by her fashion-loving mother, who always saw her daughter as a potential model. With encouragement from her and remarks from acquaintances, who stressed her seeming resemblance to fashion icon, Naomi Campbell, she ventured into modelling while yet in school and soon enrolled for Miss Nigeria in London, which she won. Despite her success, Elohor received negative feedback from most of the modelling agencies which did not consider her the kind of model they were searching for.  Like any “go-getter with grit and grind”, she resolved to start her own agency when she moved back to Nigeria. Achievements and Milestones Through Elite Model Look Nigeria which Elohor anchors, Beth Model Management has produced winners such as Davidson Obennebo, Victor Ndigwe, and Stephen Blaise Adenika who have paraded the runways in the outfits of  VersaceHermes, Gucci and many other popular designer labels. Mayowa Nicholas, Beth Model’s biggest star has been doing the agency proud by being the first Nigerian model to star in Saint Laurent, Dolce & Gabbana, and Calvin Klein campaigns. In 2016, sensational Nigerian bread seller turned model, Olajumoke Orisaguna, signed under Beth Model Management because her management considered the agency to be competent owing to its years of experience in the modelling business. The Scouting Process In the past, modelling agencies had to rely on more traditional means (billboards and fliers) to scout for models, but thanks to social media, Instagram models can now be found easily by modelling agencies. Beth Model has utilized both social media and talent scouts to find potential models. The scouts, which encompass various locations in Nigeria including the rural parts, help the agency find the right models according to physical attributes, age, and even family consent. To become a model under Beth Model Management, aspiring models must fill up a form and provide their social media handles which of course, plays a big role in the screening process. So far, Beth Model Management has done really well in the Nigerian modelling scene. With more bright young stars like Mayowa Nicholas which the agency is producing, we can only hope for more glory days in the Nigerian modelling industry.   Feature Image: bethmodelafrica.com
